Privacy Policy

The short version: SiteReviewChecker does not require an account and stores no personal data. We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics and keep only anonymous website ratings. When you rate a site we briefly process your IP to show your approximate country, but we don't store it. We never sell data and run no advertising trackers.

This Privacy Policy explains what information SiteReviewChecker ("we", "us", "our") processes when you use sitereviewchecker.com (the "Service"). We built the Service around data minimization — we simply do not need your personal information to operate it.

1. What we do not collect

2. What we process

Domains you submit

When you request a report, we process the domain you enter to generate the trust analysis. Results are cached briefly (typically up to 24 hours) to speed up repeat visits, then refreshed. A submitted domain is a public website address, not personal information about you.

Website ratings

If you rate a website (1–5 stars), we store only the star value, an approximate country (country level only — for example "United States"), and a timestamp. We do not store your name, email, comment text, or IP address alongside a rating. Ratings are displayed in aggregate and as anonymous entries such as "User from United States".

IP address, location & duplicate-vote prevention

When you submit a rating, we briefly process your IP address for two purposes only: (1) to determine your approximate, country-level location — for which your IP may be sent to a third-party geolocation provider; and (2) to compute a one-way, salted hash that lets us enforce one vote per visitor per website and keep votes immutable.

We do not store your IP address. Only the resulting country code and the irreversible hash are saved — the hash is specific to each website (so it cannot be linked across sites) and cannot be turned back into your IP address. The IP-to-country result may be held in memory for up to 24 hours to avoid repeat lookups. Your IP address is never used to identify you or build a profile.

Analytics

We use a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics tool to understand aggregate traffic (such as page views and referrers). It does not use cookies, does not collect personally identifiable information, does not create visitor profiles, and does not track you across other websites. Metrics are aggregated and anonymous, and analytics only run after you accept on the consent banner.

3. Cookies

The Service uses essentially no cookies. The only cookie we may set is a small functional cookie that remembers whether you have already rated a particular website, so the same visitor is not counted twice. It contains no personal data and is not used for advertising. Our analytics are cookieless. You can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time.

4. Service providers

We rely on a small number of infrastructure providers to operate the Service, such as hosting and content-delivery providers, our privacy-focused analytics provider, and a third-party geolocation provider (used to derive an approximate country from an IP address when you submit a rating). These providers process data only as needed to deliver the Service. We do not sell data to anyone.

5. Data retention

Cached scan results are short-lived (typically up to 24 hours). Anonymous ratings are kept for as long as the corresponding website report is published. Aggregate analytics are retained only in summarized form.

6. Security

All traffic to the Service is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited data we hold. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your rights

Because we do not collect personal data or build visitor profiles, there is normally no personal information for us to retrieve, correct, or delete. Where applicable law (such as the GDPR or California's CCPA/CPRA) grants you rights over personal data, you may still contact us and we will respond as required. If you submitted a rating you would like removed, let us know the website and approximate date and we will remove it.

8. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

9. Third-party websites

Our reports describe third-party websites and our pages may link to them. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of any third-party site. This Policy covers only SiteReviewChecker.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

11. Contact
